Many fishermen won’t be able to hang on long enough to survive. That’s the fear of Paul Joy from Hastings Fishermen's Protection Society. He says their meeting with Fisheries chief at the EU yesterday was positive, but for fishermen on the brink of survival they won’t be able to hold out for another three years. The so-called Common Fisheries Policy is being reformed, but any changes won’t come into effect until 2013. Paul Joy says it’s not just their jobs and skills which are lost; it is also has a huge knock on effect for local communities.
