A moratorium on new oil drilling would be an over reaction, says Scottish Lib Dem, George Lyon. Since the Piper Alpha disaster in 1988 safety levels have been significantly tightened up. George Lyon believes that if new standards in drilling safety are introduced, it will bring other countries into line with the kind of checks UK oil rigs already have to undergo. |
