The EU’s energy chief says he is considering a moratorium on all new oil drilling in the North Sea. The European Energy Commissioner, Günther Oettinger, believes that in the wake of the Gulf of Mexico disaster there shouldn’t be any exploration in the North Sea until the causes of the US crisis are known.
