Title: Scottish fishermen can firm up “uncertain science”, says industry (1 of 2) |
Of interest to: 12 |
Script details: |
Fishing quotas are based on “uncertain science”. That’s the conclusion of the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation in light of the latest statistics. Data from International Council for the Exploration of the Seas appeared to show that cod levels off Scotland are still not high enough. But Bertie Armstrong from the Scottish Fishermen's Federation questions the validity of the numbers. He believes that the fishermen themselves – those out at sea day in, day out – should be the ones to produce the evidence on the state of fish stocks. |
