A Welsh MEP has been protesting in the European Parliament against GM crops. Jill Evans held up a placard reading “For a GMO free Europe” during a session in Strasbourg yesterday. Last week the European Commission gave the go ahead for genetically modified potatoes to be grown in Europe. But the government would need to give its consent before planting could begin here. Jill Evans opposes any GM crops. She says there are too many unanswered questions about the health and environmental implications.
