A North East politician has won his campaign for safer medical needles. There are estimated to be 100,000 needle injuries in the UK every year. Stephen Hughes has been working for several years to try and increase protection for health workers. Last month the European Parliament voted through his proposals and they have now become European law. The government must implement the changes within three years. Stephen Hughes says he was shocked when he found out how my cases there are in Britain each year. |
